Often, new internet marketers and website owners ask, “what is organic traffic?” The simple answer is: hits to your web pages that are not directed there by a paid advertisement.

SEO strategies may change somewhat from search engine to search engine, but the steps taken are usually the same: keyword density, obtaining backlinks (a separate strategy, but still relevant to SEO purposes), proper page names, and a proper site map.

The benefits of good SEO are many. First of all, the organic traffic is free. Also, if it’s consistent, it can form the basis of a revenue stream that may be sold.
